The buildingSMART openBIM Awards 2025 – Winners Announced

Berlin, Germany – September 25, 2025

The openBIM Awards 2025 concluded with a celebratory ceremony on Wednesday, 24 September, during the closing plenary of the buildingSMART International Summit – Berlin 2025. Following a full day of presentations from 22 outstanding finalists, four elite jury teams deliberated across multiple categories to select nine award winners and two special mentions. The awards showcase global excellence in openBIM, recognizing innovation, collaboration, and leadership in advancing open standards for the built environment. The full list of awards is as follows:

 

Category of CONSTRUCTION FOR BUILDINGS:

· Guangdong Airport Authority – “Intelligent Construction Based on openBIM for Terminal 3 of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport” – China.

Category of CONSTRUCTION FOR INFRASTRUCTURE:

· CHINA ACADEMY OF RAILWAY SCIENCES CORPORATION LIMITED – “Application of Management for Super Large Railway Project Clusters Based on openBIM” – China.

Category of DESIGN FOR BUILDINGS:

· ARGE TVG / AllesWirdGut - Hertl.Architekten - FCP – “BIM is Magical: Data-Driven Highrise Design through Interoperability, Collaboration and Innovation” – Germany.

Category of DESIGN FOR INFRASTRUCTURE:

· Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism – “Development of an automatic data linkage system from design to quantity takeoff using openBIM” – Japan.

Category of OPERATIONS:

· Henderson Land Development Co. Ltd. & Hip Hing Construction Co., Ltd. – “The Henderson - openBIM for Building Lifecycle” – Hong Kong, China.

Category of PROFESSIONAL RESEARCH:

· Carleton Immersive Media Studio, Carleton University – “An Integrated Open-Source Digital Twin Platform for Federal Built Assets in Canada” – Canada.

Category of STUDENT RESEARCH:

· School of software, Tsinghua University – “BIMNet: An openBIM-based dataset and benchmark for scan-to-BIM” – China.

Category of SUSTAINABILITY:

· Hysan Development Company Limited, Chinachem Group Holdings Limited, Foster + Partners, Hip Hing Construction Co., Ltd –“Lee Garden Eight: A Landmark of Sustainability and Digital Collaboration with openBIM” –Hong Kong, China

Category of TECHNOLOGY:

· Qonic NV – “Qonic Intelligence (QI): Applying openBIM Classification through Advanced AI” – Belgium.

 

Additionally, two of the finalists were awarded a Special Mention:

· Department of Transport and Main Roads, Queensland, Australia – “Department of Transport and Main Roads openBIM Information Delivery System” – Australia.

· HDR – “Application of U.S. BIM for Bridges and Structures National openBIM Standards” – USA.
